SOGO Squirts (Ages 2-5)

Getting Little Athletes Going

Your little ones will gain the skills to move competently and confidently through a range of environments under the mindful guidance of our coaching team.
Two and three year old SOGO Squirts is a parented experience, you’ll be joining your preschoolers as they walk/jog/run on and off paths and participate in a range of games that encourage a life-long interest in physical activity.
Four and five year old SOGO Squirts is a un-parented experience, they’ll be escorted through the courses by one of our expert coaches and volunteers.
A few notes
  • Preschoolers will graduate from SOGO Squirts when they are 5 if they have done a season of SOGO or when they turn 6 and are ready to move competently to SOGO Level 1.
  • Ages are calculated based on the participant's age as of Oct 15 of this year, so if your SOGO participant has a birthday during the SOGO season, you are able to register them in a program based on their age at the end of the SOGO season. If you have any questions about which Level to register your child in, please email us at [email protected].
  • Wee siblings are welcome in parented programs, however they must be accompanied at all times and parents need to have hands free to provide participating preschoolers with assistance.

Fee

Equipment List
SOGO Squirts is an outdoor program involving moving through natural terrain. Kids and parents need to be dressed for physical activity in the outdoors - they will get a little bit dirty!
  • Running or trail shoes with a good tread 
  • Athletic pants (long pants protect from prickles) and synthetic top
  • Wind jacket
  • Water bottle labelled with name 
  • Toque and light gloves
Included in SOGO Squirts
  • Five 90 min orienteering lessons
  • ​SOGO Squirt pinnie to wear on SOGO days to be returned after the season
  • ​Invitation to SOGO events such as our annual Halloween Spook-O event
  • Child / Youth membership to the Foothills Orienteering Club.
​Registration closing date is Friday, Aug 29th at 11:59pm.
Limited registration will be available from Aug 29-Sep 9th for an additional $30 fee and any missed session will not be prorated*. Please email [email protected] if you want to register after Aug 29th.
*We understand that there are a variety of reasons for registering late. We would love for your child to participate in SOGO. We are adding the extra fee because it is time consuming for us to add kids to our class rosters and processes which we set up right before and during the start of the sessions.
