Inclement Weather & AIr QUALITY Policy
If the air temperature is -15 OR colder at the Environment Canada, Calgary International Airport, the session will be cancelled. The head coach MAY also cancel a session if the air temperature is warmer than -15 but there is a significant wind chill. This decision will be made based on the exposure to wind at a given location.
If Environment Canada issues a Weather Warning (storm, winds, lightning, etc.) we MAY cancel a session. SOGO Staff and coaches will assess how the warning effects the specific program or event location and decide if the session will be cancelled (we all know how localized weather systems can be in Calgary).
Parents are encouraged to monitor the Calgary Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) and discuss with coaches if their children have breathing concerns. SOGO sessions will be cancelled if the AQHI is 7+. (We recommend these resources regarding air quality and outdoor recreation from the Sport Information Resource Centre & Health Canada)
The decision to cancel a program will be emailed to all participants at least two hours prior to program start. Please check your email on days when the temperature is approaching the cut-off, if the weather is looking dangerous, or if there is substantial smoke. We will always endeavour to make a program cancellation notice with at least two hours notice, but there may be circumstances when a cancellation needs to be done at the last minute due to unsafe conditions.
Although we do our best to ensure that our SOGO program operates in all weather conditions, programs are at times subject to cancellation due to unsafe conditions for our runners. In the event of program cancellation, SOGO Adventure Running reserves the right to cancel any program due to adverse weather related conditions without refund.

FAcility and location Access Policy
Our SOGO program sessions operate in outdoor public facilities, green spaces and wilderness areas. For the majority of our programs, our organization needs to submit applications to municipal and provincial offices in order to receive permits for these areas. Due to various conditions, on occasion, we do not receive permits for certain locations. In such instances, SOGO Adventure Running reserves the right to change our program locations. In such instances, our staff will do our best to select a fair, alternative location with as much advanced notice to participants as possible. SOGO Adventure Running reserves the right to change any program location due to events outside our control without refund.
Inclement environmental events
Due to the natural conditions of our running environments, events outside of our control can occur (ie; flooding, damaged infrastructure, unstable terrain or landslides, damage from other users, construction projects, etc). If in such cases, access to our permit location is compromised, our staff or coaches will assess how the warning affects the specific program and may cancel, change or relocate a session or meeting location. If public officials issue a warning for one of our event locations, we may also cancel or relocate a session or meeting location. Although we do our best to ensure that our SOGO program operates in all scheduled event locations conditions, programs are at times subject to cancellation due to unsafe conditions for our runners
The decision to cancel a program will be emailed to all participants at least two hours prior to program start.

PUBLIC SAFETY POLICY
Please see below under the Alberta Orienteering Association Policies for public safety in orienteering information.
Lost Runner Policy
Foothills Orienteering and SOGO Adventure Running have extensive lost person policies. The program and its stations are designed to minimize the risk of anyone going missing and we have a very good track record to that effect. Despite our best efforts issues can arise in which case there is a procedure our coaches will follow which increases in scope as time goes by without the runner being found.
