Safe Sport

SOGO Adventure Running is committed to providing a safe sport environment. We carefully follow the Safe Sport policies of our parent club, Foothills Wanderers Orienteering Club, the Alberta Orienteering Association and Orienteering Canada. We have adopted the Alberta Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport.

The Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism (ABSSCM) is our independent third-party complaint management process. 
"Report a Complaint " button links directly to the Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism (ABSSCM), an independent service by ALIAS for confidential maltreatment reports.
The ABSSCM reporting mechanism does not provide emergency assistance. If there is an immediate threat to someone’s safety, call 911.

You will be linked immediately to the Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism (ABSSCM) powered by ALIAS where you will fill out the online complaint form. The complainant will be contacted within 48 working hours.
  • Case managers are experienced in helping victims of maltreatment, professionally and personally independent of AOA ·They know and understand Safe Sport policies. They are qualified and experienced in navigating complaints of maltreatment.
  • The Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism does not handle association/club level complaints or concerns involving procedure, team selection, suspensions, events' rules-related complaints, orienteering events jury decisions, or other complaint/concerns of this nature. These complaints should be sent to your local association/club according to their policies.
  • If you are unsure if your complaint constitutes maltreatment, please review the Alberta Universal Code of Conduct (AB UCC) and the AOA Code of Conduct and the AOA Complaints, Dispute and Appeal Policy.
  • Each person has a responsibility to help keep the sport safe. Reports of maltreatment that come to the attention of SOGO & FWOC will be directed to contact ALIAS using the "Report a Complaint" button.
  • By providing you with this service, SOGO/FWOC is reaffirming its commitment to protect its members by providing a safe and positive environment within the programs, business, activities and events of the Organization.
